I don't have to much experience with android note taking but I do know that one note is not as fleshed out. You could try looking into an older surface at a higher spec if you just need a tablet. If you are looking for all the o e note feature nothing beats the surface.

Get "banana" optical switches if you've never had a mechanical keyboard before.I have a surface pro 7 at the moment ant it has been great. I never do long form writing with the apple pencil. Both have better tools than any third party app I've found). I use my pencil for drawing and annotating documents (Pages is really good at annotating - and the screenshot tool as well.

Or if I'm at my desk again I view it on my Mac with the large screen. Again because the iPad screen can be too small - it can't beat having a few pages side by side. Sometimes I print the Pages document out on paper as well. And it lets me get away with using a lot of short hand/etc in my draft notes, since they're not the final version. And if course, typed text is a lot smaller and neater. I also find it's a really good second step to consolidate, consider and refine my notes by re-creating them with a keyboard where you can easily make changes. Sometimes gasp I use a Mac - because the screen is bigger. Later on I type my notes, with a Keychron K7 keyboard, either in Pages (the best note taking app in my opinion) or in GitHub (not as good, but better collaboration and organisation for large projects). With paper, I do this less and it's easier - I use loose leaf paper in a binder and can just put two or three sheets side by sideīut I only use that for rough notes. I often find myself wanting to refer back to another page (exacerbated by the large writing). To compensate I write bigger, which means I can't fit enough on a page/screenfull It's been years now and I can write quickly or neatly - I don't know how other people do both. I tried but have three major complaints with iPad: I write rough notes on paper, with a mechanical pencil.

IPad isn't the best tool for every situation. but sometimes you should really use a screwdriver or sticky tape or glue to fix things. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Practice writing outside of when you need to do you can experiment and see what works best for you. Don’t expect to get good at taking notes while in class/meetings. Try several to find the one that fits your mental model. I prefer GoodNotes, others like notability, others like the regular Notes.app, and others like Nebo. so when you zoom out, the writing is normal size.įind a notes app that you get along with. Most notes apps (I use GoodNotes) can zoom in slightly. Write slightly bigger than you’re used to. When I get sloppy with my writing posture, my handwriting suffers a lot. Find a writing posture that gives you the most control over the Pencil, and you’re writing will improve. For me, my hand is in a more upright posture than when I write with a standard pencil or ballpoint pen. You can’t write the same way on an iPad as you do on paper and pen or pencil - specifically, your hand’s posture will likely be different. I don’t like taking notes with a keyboard, and the convenience of digital handwriting is superior to paper for me. I’ve been using iPads for written work notes since the original iPad Pro 9.7 in 2016.
